Meet the Founder
Rhonda Mapp, one of women’s basketball legends, was born in Charlotte, NC, and raised in Asheville, NC. She knew she had what it took to follow her dreams of becoming a professional basketball player in the United States.
Prior to being one of the original players drafted (first round, third pick) by the Charlotte Sting in the first historical WNBA Elite Draft in 1997, she served as a starting forward and valuable contributor, averaging over 11 points and 5 rebounds per game. Post-injury, she averaged 15 points in her next four games.
She led her high school to a 4-A State Championship, won an AAU National Championship with the Charlotte Monarchs, and was heavily recruited by universities nationwide before choosing NC State University. She spent six seasons abroad, averaging 18.1 points and 8.3 rebounds per game for a total of 13 years playing in Spain, France, Italy, Turkey, Korea, and Israel, and won her first WNBA Championship in 2000 with the LA Sparks.
Rhonda’s commitment to community led to the founding of Racing To Feed America, bringing strong work ethics, tenacity, and respect for families in need. She began by feeding her hometown of Asheville and now aims to expand nationwide.
